Avsallar sits on the Alanya coast, about an hour and a quarter to an hour and a half from Koprulu Canyon by road. It is a longer run than from Side, but the free pick-up handles it and the grade II-III rapids are worth the early start.
Where Avsallar sits and why the drive is longer
Koprulu Canyon rafting takes place on the Koprucay river near Beskonak, inland from Manavgat. Avsallar and neighbouring Okurcalar are at the western end of the Alanya district, which puts you around 1.25 to 1.5 hours from the river by minibus. Guests staying further east towards Alanya centre or Mahmutlar face closer to two hours, so Avsallar is actually one of the better-placed Alanya resorts for a canyon day.
How the free hotel pick-up works
Book direct and a minibus collects you from your Avsallar hotel or a nearby meeting point in the morning. Because the drive is longer than from the Side-Manavgat corridor, pick-up from these far resorts is earlier, and you will be back late afternoon or early evening. We do not quote exact clock times here because they shift with your hotel, the season and how many stops the driver makes along the coast road, so your confirmation is the number that counts.
What the journey is like
The coastal leg runs west along the D400 before the road turns inland and climbs gently into the pine hills above Beskonak. It is a scenic drive, and most of it is spent chatting or dozing rather than staring at motorway. Bring water, sunglasses and something to snack on, though there is usually a stop for refreshments before you reach the river.
Your day on the water
The classic Koprulu Canyon run is around 14 kilometres of cold, clear snowmelt with a qualified guide in every raft. You are given a helmet, life jacket and paddle, and a short safety briefing before you push off. The rapids are grade II-III: lively enough to be genuinely exciting and to leave you soaked, but manageable for first-timers and families with older children. Between the white water there are calm stretches where you can float, take photos and even jump in for a swim if the guide gives the nod.
The season runs roughly from April to October. Early and late in the season the water is at its coldest, so a splash top helps; midsummer is warmer and busier. Wear swimwear, secure your footwear, and leave phones and valuables in the waterproof storage the operator provides.
Koprulu Canyon or Dim Cayi? An honest word
There is a closer option to Avsallar: Dim Cayi, the Dim river just inland of Alanya. It is a lovely spot, but be clear about what it is. Dim Cayi is a calm, family-and-photo float over shallow water with riverside restaurants on platforms above the stream. It is not real white-water rafting. If you want the genuine grade II-III rapids, the guided raft and the proper adventure, Koprulu Canyon is the run, and it is what we specialise in. The trade-off is the longer transfer, so choose honestly based on what you actually want from the day.
Booking direct and honest pricing
Rates change with the season and what is included, so we point you to the live price rather than inventing a figure. As a rule, booking direct with the operator beats paying a hotel rep or an online marketplace, because those add a margin on top. Booking direct also means your pick-up details go straight to the team running your raft.

Yes, it is a longer day from Avsallar than from Side, but the free pick-up handles the logistics and the real rapids make it worth the early alarm. Ready to book? Head to our rafting from Avsallar page and reserve your seat direct.
