Lara and Kundu deliver polish by the acre: themed palaces, private beaches and buffets that never end. What they cannot bottle is a proper day in wild nature, and that is exactly what a rafting trip on the Koprucay puts back into your holiday.
The best day out you can't get inside the resort gates
Everything along the Kundu strip is engineered for comfort, and beautifully so. But after a few days of loungers and lobby lattes, most guests start looking for something that feels genuinely alive. Rafting through Koprulu Canyon National Park is that something: a real river, real mountains and a few hours where the only schedule is the water.
The classic run covers around 14 kilometres of the Koprucay through a protected canyon, graded II-III. That means proper splashy fun and a handful of lively rapids, yet it stays firmly family friendly. There is a trained guide in every raft, all the gear is provided, and no prior experience is required.
How the transfer works from Lara and Kundu
You do not need to hire a car or wrestle with directions. Free hotel pickup by minibus is standard from the Lara and Kundu hotels, so your day starts at your own lobby. The drive out to Beskonak in the canyon takes around 1.25 hours from the luxury strip, following the coast before climbing gently into the pine-covered hills above Antalya.
Pickup is in the morning and you are back at your hotel in the late afternoon or early evening, comfortably in time to freshen up for dinner. Because Lara and Kundu sit right beside Antalya, this is one of the easiest canyon escapes on the whole coast. For the full route and booking details from your area, see our dedicated rafting from Lara page.
What to expect on the Koprucay
On arrival at the riverside base you are fitted with a helmet, life jacket and paddle, then briefed by your guide on the simple paddle commands. The Koprucay is fed by mountain snowmelt, so the water runs bracingly cold and beautifully clear even in high summer, a welcome contrast to a heated resort pool.
From there it is you, your raft team and the canyon. Expect stretches of gentle drifting between the rapids, towering rock walls, forested banks and the occasional chance to swim in a calm pool if your guide allows. Many trips include a riverside stop where a hot lunch is often served, though menus and inclusions vary, so confirm the details when you book.
What to bring
- Swimwear worn under quick-dry clothes
- A change of clothes and a towel for the trip back
- Secure water shoes or old trainers that can get wet
- Sunscreen, and a strap for glasses
- A little cash for photos, drinks or extras at the base
Is it right for a luxury-hotel holiday?
Absolutely. You get a genuine adventure without roughing it: air-conditioned transfer door to door, professional guides, all equipment supplied, and you are home in time for the evening. It is the ideal counterpoint to a week of all-inclusive ease, and children who meet the operator's minimum age usually love it.
Booking direct versus the hotel rep
Hotel reps, tour desks and online marketplaces all add their own margin on top of the trip. Booking direct with the operator generally works out cheaper for the same rafting day, and it keeps the arrangement simple: one point of contact, clear pickup from your Lara or Kundu hotel, and no surprises. Prices shift with season, group size and any extras, so we always defer to the live price rather than quote a figure that might be out of date.
The season runs roughly from April to October, with the river at its liveliest in spring and early summer. If rafting is the highlight you are after, browse it alongside our other options on the tours page and pick the day that fits your stay.
